Genesis 1:26-31, 2:7 - 3:24
God made the first man from the dust of the earth and the first woman from the rib of the man. He called them Adam and Eve. God loved Adam and Eve. He gave them authority (control) over everything He had made. They were God's friends. God made a beautiful garden for them to live in. God spoke with them there. He gave them permission to eat any of the fruit in the garden except for the fruit from one tree. But they chose to disobey God, and they ate the forbidden fruit. They sinned against God. They broke their friendship with Him, and He had to punish them. God hates sin. He sent them out of the beautiful garden. Since that time people have had to work hard to get the food they need to eat. Sin also brought pain, suffering, and death.
