Exodus 2:1-10
Moses was an Israelite. He was born in Egypt, 300 years after Joseph. The king of Egypt treated the Israelites badly. He forced them to work as slaves, and he ordered the midwives to kill all the boy babies. When Moses was born his mother hid him. She put him in a basket and hid it in the reeds beside the river. His sister, Miriam, stood nearby to watch. The king's daughter came to bathe at the river. She found the basket and baby Moses. She decided to keep him for herself. Moses grew up in the King's palace, and learned the ways of the Egyptians.(Signal)
